WRONG!

Bacteria can cause a sinus infection, but viruses and allergies are much more common causes of sinusitis. Studies show that bacteria almost never cause sinusitis within the first 2 weeks of symptoms. The CDC has instituted a national campaign to prevent using any antibiotics to treat sinusitis sooner than 10-14 days. Using antibiotics before 2 weeks does not prevent bacterial infection, but makes the bacteria resistant to antibiotics, so antibiotics will no longer be effective to treat a real bacterial infection.
