This is a true statement! The signs of strep throat, like fever, headache, blisters in the throat, swollen neck glands, and severe throat pain, are found just as often in virus sore throats. One sign of strep A (which is usually reliable) is large red dots (hemorrhages) on the palate. But to be completely sure it is strep A, you would have to do a strep test with a throat swab.
